We can visit nearby scenic towns like Celle. The beautiful buildings dating back to the Middle Ages were not destroyed during World War II. We can also go to farmers markets and places of your choice. Enjoyable opportunities for vocabulary building and language practice are provided on an individual basis. Possible study outings could lead to restaurants, airports, railway stations, banks, post offices, department stores and other places of everyday life. We can perfect your grammar in sit-down classes in the winter garden or work on your specific project. Your program can be as rich, varied and adventurous as you would like it to be. Maybe you want to visit Volkswagens new AutoStadt in Wolfsburg, one of the many annual trade conventions like CeBit in Hanover or enjoy a street festival in Berlin.

This is your program and we will design it with your specific needs in mind. Flexibility, creativity and developing your full potential are key words here.

Would you like to combine your language studies with a vacation in Europe? You can get a Eurail pass (has to be purchased in your country) at great discount and travel for 15 days within a month from your starting date all over Europe. Perhaps do a 5 day Intensive Course here and then continue studying on your own in the train (You can purchase books and audio tapes at a local bookstore here). For a small extra fee you can book a sleeper. Schedule your travel so you arrive fresh at your destination in the morning!

The Language Experience is most effective on a one on one basis, but it is also possible for couples, families, colleagues or friends to take the training together. Compatible language skills are best, but the fun of exploring another language together might be more important! Courses for groups are also available. TM: Can you briefly describe the concept of the Language Experience? What do you mean by "Experience"?

HW: We try, as far as possible, to convey the language through direct experience, so that the newly learned vocabulary is associated with sense perceptions, whole body understanding, and emotional impact and thereby better retained in memory.

Wir versuchen, soweit wie möglich Sprache auch durch direkte Erfahrung zu vermitteln, sodass der neu erlernte Wortschatz mit Sinneswahrnehmungen, Körpergefühl, emotionalem Impakt assoziert und so bleibend erinnert werden kann. 
 
 

TM: What are the most important learning methods at the Language Experience?

Was sind die wichtigsten Lernmethoden bei der Language Experience?
 
 

HW: We utilize all existing learning methods, both conventional and alternative, depending on what works best for a particular student. Field trips and activities corresponding with personal interests of the student, our "situative-kinetic" teaching, are especially popular in our language program. 

Wir wenden alle zur Verfügung stehenden Lernmethoden an, konventionell und alternativ, sofern sie bei betreffenden Schülern effektiv eingesetzt werden können. Ausflüge und den persönlichen Interessen der Schüler entsprechende Aktivitäten, unser "situativ - kinetischer Unterricht" sind besonders beliebt in unserem Sprachprogramm. 
 
 

TM: Can you briefly describe a "typical day" at the Language Experience? 

Kötinnen Sie kurz einen "typischen Tag" bei der Language Experience beschreiben? 
 
 

HW: Lessons usually begin here at 10:15 am, unless another time is requested, so that the students can begin the day in a relaxed fashion and have time to go jogging around the lake, have breakfast in their own
accommodations, or review what was learned the day before. 

Der Unterricht bei uns beginnt meistens morgens um 10:15, ausser dass eine andere Zeit erwünscht wird, sodass der Schüler den Tag in aller Ruhe beginnen kann, z.B. um den See joggen, gemütlich in der
eigenen Unterbringung frühstücken, sich nochmal einen Überblick über Gelerntes vom Vortag verschaffen usw. 

10:15-14:00 

4 Lesson units: Grammar, new structures, etc. Lessons take place in the classroom and also while doing something active like taking a walk around the lake, for example. We vary active and passive learning to keep the concentration high. There are no pre-determined break times. Students and teachers decide together when they need a break. It can also happen that no breaks are needed. Often around 1pm the "kinetic-situational" lessons around the "LangEx lunch" begin: that is, teachers and students cook together, set the table for lunch, etc. During this time students describe what theyíre doing, and thereby learn new words and phrases in a concrete setting. 

4 Unterrichtseinheiten: Grammatik, neue Strukturen usw. Der Unterricht findet im Klassenzimmer oder auch während Spaziergängen um den See hier usw statt, um die Konzentation aufrecht zu erhalten. Es gibt keine festgelegten Pausen. Schüler und Lehrer bestimmen gemeinsam, wann sie eine Pause brauchen. Es kann auch vorkommen, dass gar keine Pausen gebraucht werden. Oft findet gegen 13:00 der "kinetisch - situative" Unterricht rund um das LangEx Mittagessen statt d.h. Schüler und Lehrer kochen gemeinsam, decken den Tisch etc. Schüler beschreiben dabei ihre Tätigkeiten, lernen Wortschatz und Propositionen usw. konkret. 
 
 

14:00-15:00
1 Lesson unit: LangEx lunch. Group conversation or vocabulary building etc over lunch with all of the teachers and students. Typically 2 or 3 Intensive courses are running at the same time, so 3 students and 3 teachers and sometimes other guests are present. After the morning lessons, which usually require a lot of concentration, this is a relaxed setting, where learned material can be put to practice conversing with others. 

1 Unterrichtseinheit: LangEx Mittagessen. Gemeinsames Konversationsmittagessen oder Wortschatzarbeit mit allen Lehrern und Schülern. Typischerweise laufen 2 - 3 Intensivkurse paralell, sodass 3 Schüler und 3 Lehrer, manchmal auch Gäste anwesend sind. Nach dem konzentrierten Vormittagsunterricht bietet das LangEx Mittagessen Auflockerung, Geselligkeit und die Msglichkeit bisher Gelerntes in der Gruppe und entspannter Atmoshäre anzuwenden.

The relationship between the students and teachers is friendly and informal, and often they go together to concerts, a fitness center, etc.

TM: What are the specialties of the Language Experience? 

Was sind die Besonderheiten der Language Experience ? 
 
 

HW: We specialize in one-on-one training and intensive courses up to 8 lesson units per day (one lesson lasts 45 minutes). We also accommodate small groups, which can be families, friends, or colleagues who want to take a German (or English) course together. Through this small group work, a close human contact is established, which optimizes language learning. Each course is planned according to the abilities, needs, and preferred learning styles of the student. Grammar structures have to be taught, of course but how they are taught can vary widely. Guest teachers and friends of our team often come by to help provide a varied language program that incorporates the many interests of our students. In order to achieve the relaxed atmosphere of our school, we are located in a private house. A living room with a fireplace and a wintergarden are two of our classrooms. We are very flexible and we do whatever we can to accommodate the needs of our "guests", the students. We even offer lessons in the evening or on the weekend. Our residential students live at the Language Experience. They can choose from three different types of accommodations. With each of these, they have their own private space, including seperate entrances, a private bathroom and kitchen (except the cabin, which has only simple facilities for food preparation). Students can also have their own guests in their lodging without having to pay extra. All accommodations are equipped with cable TV, video players, an entertaining video language course as well as books and tapes for extra study during free time. At the Language Experience students have the chance for personal contact with the teachers and there are many added ìeveryday life situationsî a student may choose to participate in like joining the teacher for a work out at the local fitness center in the evening etc, that enrich our language learning program. We have modified the old proven concept: "learning a language at a language school and living with a family", by taking the best aspects of this system. Students have their own space and privacy to retreat to, yet often interact with their teachers beyond teaching units and are still professionally corrected and supported in their verbal communications. Our more personal approach has proven very successful over the years and supported our believe, that this really works. 

Wir spezialisieren uns auf Einzelunterricht/Intensivkurse bis zu 8 + UE (eine Unterrichtseinheit dauert 45 Minuten) pro Tag, oder Kleingruppen, da manchmal auch Familien, Freunde oder Arbeitskollegen, einen Deutsch- oder Englischkurs gemeinsam machen wollen. So entsteht ein enger,menschlicher Kontakt zwischen Schülern und Lehrern, der die Sprachvermittlung optimalisiert. Jeder Kurs wird individuell nach den Fähigkeiten, Wünschen und bevorzugten Lernstilen der Schüler geplant. Grammatikstrukturen usw müssen natürlich vermittelt werden, aber wie sie vermittelt werden, kann sehr unterschiedlich sein. Unser Lehrerteam wird oft von Gastlehrern und Freunden unterstützt, um den vielseitigen Interessen unserer Schüler gerecht zu werden. Um eine entspannte Atmoshäre zu schaffen, ist unsere Schule in einem Privathaus. Ein Wohnzimmer mit Kamin, ein Wintergarten usw dienen als Klassenzimmer. Wir sind sehr flexibel und richten uns, soweit msglich, nach den Bedürfnissen unserer "Gäste", den Schülern. So findet auch oft Unterricht am Wochenende oder Abend usw statt. Die Schüler wohnen bei der Language Experience. Sie können zwischen drei verschiedenen Unterbringungen wählen und haben immer ihren Privatbereich, eigenes Badezimmer, Kochmöglichkeiten usw aber auch den persönlichen Kontakt zu den Lehrern über den Unterricht hinaus. Wir haben die Kombination "eine Fremdsprache in einer Sprachschule lernen und bei einer Familie wohnen" modifiziert. Selbstverständlich können die Schüler auch ihre Privatgäste ohne extra Berechnung bei sich unterbringen. Alle Unterbringungen sind mit Kabelfernsehen, Videorekordern und einem unterhaltsamen Videosprachkurs, sowie Büchern und Sprachkassetten zur Freizeitbeschäftigung ausgestattet.
